CallBreak Rules
1. Card Dealing
A standard deck of 52 cards is used.
Each player is dealt 13 cards at the beginning of every round.
2. Bidding (Calling)
Before gameplay starts, each player must declare (“call”) the number of tricks (hands) they expect to win in the round.
This declared number is known as the bid.
3. Gameplay
1. Starting the Round
The player seated next to the dealer begins the first trick.
2. Following Suit
Players must follow the suit of the card that was led, if they have cards of that suit.
If they do not have cards in the leading suit, they may play any other card, including a Spade (trump suit).
3. Winning a Trick
The highest card of the leading suit wins the trick, unless a Spade is played.
If one or more Spades are played, the highest Spade wins the trick.
4. Scoring
A. Meeting Your Call
If you win at least the number of tricks you called, you earn points equal to your bid.
Example: If you call 4 and win 4 tricks, you score 4 points.
B. Winning Extra Tricks
Each trick won beyond your call adds +0.1 bonus points.
Example: If you call 3 but win 5 tricks, your score is:
3 points (for meeting your call)
+0.1 × 2 (for 2 extra tricks) = +0.2
Total = 3.2 points
C. Failing Your Call
If you win fewer tricks than your call, you lose points equal to your full bid.
Example: If you call 5 but win only 3 tricks, your score is -5 points.
5. Winning the Game
Call Break is usually played over 3 or 5 rounds.
At the end of all rounds, the player with the highest total score is declared the winner.
